Updated: Boring medical story, part 3

Yesterday was my birthday, and i can easily say it was the worst birthday I can remember. Not that it had much competition. My birthdays are usually pretty great, although I don’t really make a big deal about them anymore. Let’s just say they usually don’t involve pain and anguish, and more often than not I get a gift that isn’t a prescription for pain killers.
Yesterday I had two wisdom teeth surgically removed at the hospital. And when I say surgically removed I mean getting my face and body covered so I could see nothing and having some guy hack and saw on my tooth so he could pull it out in pieces. Before this, I had no idea my teeth were especially difficult to get out. I mean, I’ve removed a couple in the past, but nothing like this. Apparently, my teeth suck. I was in that chair for an hour getting hacked and pulled at, and let me tell you; getting a tooth out of me requires force, people. The poor guy had his work cut out for him. And when he couldn’t get out that last piece of stubborn tooth he called in a guy to help him hold me down as he gave it another shot. By then all that precious anesthesia I had numbing me from the neck up was starting to come out, but I totally screamed in anguish held it together so they could get it out already.
Afterwards the nurse looked at my mangled face, compassionately wished me a happy birthday and told me they may or may not have hacked a little into a nerve and that it may or may not ever work again. Whatever, I mumbled through the cotton. I spent the rest of the night on the couch trying not to speak or move or open my eyes, and here I am again today. I’m really wondering how in the world I’m going to be able to eat anything, feed the baby, or even worse- shave my legs. I’m going back down to Mr. X-ray guy in two hours to get a CT scan of my lower back. Apparently, they weren’t too happy with my last visit, either.
Update: The CT scan was quick, free and I got to keep my pants on. Now that’s what I call a good time!
Update 2: I’ve discovered you can eat brownies almost without opening your mouth.
